A new unit/facility was required at RAF Waddington to provided mission support and data processing. Following various surveys and assessments, it was established that the preferred solution was extend Bld 680 to provide accommodation for this new unit.
As a result, a business case was put together by the Ministry of Defence to undertake a project to provide a 2 story extension to building 680 as this facility offered the appropriate strategic support, security requirements and brownfield site for development.
Templeman Design were appointed to undertake an assessment study to establish the preferred option and develop the design brief that consider the needs of the unit without compromising the architectural language of the existing building, site context and clients financial constraints. The new extension consisted of new office areas, technical areas, data processing areas, welfare facilities, and plantroom.
Templeman Design transposed the client need into a workable scheme, obtain all statutory permissions, development of the multi-disciplinary design for construction and design services during construction.
